Frequently asked questions

If your question is not here, message us on LINE. We answer honestly, with no sales pressure.

Short answer

The most common questions are: can I learn with no experience (yes — 90% of students start from zero), how long does it take (150 hours ≈ 19 days, 60 hours ≈ 8 days), can I really be licensed (yes, the curriculum is accredited), and how much can I earn (a minimum of 40,000–80,000 THB per month).

General

Where is the best place to learn Thai massage in Thailand?
Judge a Thai massage school on four things: the curriculum must be accredited by the Ministry of Education and Ministry of Public Health, or the certificate cannot be used to register as a licensed therapist; the health-massage course must run the full 150 hours; you must practise on real clients, not just watch videos; and there should be after-graduation support such as free refresher classes and job placement. Michael Thai Massage School meets all four and has campuses in Bangkok (BTS Si La Salle) and Pattaya.
I have no experience at all — can I still learn?
Absolutely. Over 90% of our students have never given a massage before. Every course starts from zero, and instructors correct your technique individually until you can work on your own.
Which days is the school open, and at what times?
Both campuses — Bangkok (Si La Salle) and Pattaya (Nong Prue) — are open every day from 08:30 to 17:00 and closed on Mondays. You can message us on LINE at any hour; we usually reply within minutes.
There are two campuses — which should I choose?
Both campuses teach the same curriculum to the same standard, at the same price, and issue the same certificate. Choose whichever is easier to reach: Bangkok is directly at BTS Si La Salle on Srinagarindra Road in Bang Na, while Pattaya sits next to the Nakhonchai Air coach terminal in Nong Prue, Bang Lamung, Chonburi.
I am coming from another province — is accommodation available?
The school is in Nong Prue, Bang Lamung, Chonburi, an area with plenty of daily and monthly accommodation starting from a few hundred baht per night. Message us on LINE and we will recommend places near the school.
Am I too old to learn?
There is no age limit. Our students range from their early twenties to their sixties. What matters is correct body mechanics — we teach you to use body weight rather than finger strength, so you can work for years without injury.

Courses & study

How long does massage training take?
A 150-hour course (Thai or oil massage) takes about 19 days; a 60-hour course (foot or facial) takes about 8 days at 8 hours per day. Weekend and evening schedules are available for people with full-time jobs.
Which course should I start with?
If you are committed to this as a long-term career and want to be licensed, start with Thai massage 150 hours — it is the foundation of everything else. If you need to start earning fastest on a limited budget, start with foot reflexology 60 hours and return for the 150-hour course later.
Can I re-study if I still do not feel confident?
Yes, free for life. Alumni may sit in on any future intake at no extra cost — just let us know in advance so we can reserve a seat.

Certificate & licensing

Can I really register as a licensed practitioner after graduating?
Yes. Our 150-hour curriculum is accredited by the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Public Health — the contact-hour requirement set by the Department of Health Service Support for the SorPorSor.14 health massage practitioner registration. We prepare the documents and walk you through every step.
Can the certificate be used to work abroad?
Yes. We issue a bilingual Thai–English certificate, which is what overseas employers and embassies ask for. If you need further authentication such as legalisation by the Department of Consular Affairs, we can guide you through it.

Work & income

Is the job placement real?
Yes. We maintain a network of shops, spas and hotels that hire our graduates continuously. Referrals are free and never expire — you can come back for a new referral at any point in your career.
How much can a massage therapist earn?
Full-time graduates of our courses earn a minimum of 40,000–80,000 THB per month. Health massage shops pay 40,000–60,000 THB; 4–5 star hotel spas 50,000–80,000 THB including tips; independent therapists with regular clients 60,000–120,000 THB; and shop owners who manage well earn 150,000 THB and above.
I want to open my own shop — can the school help?
Yes. Dr. Michael has run massage and spa businesses for over ten years. We cover pricing, choosing a location, hiring therapists, and the paperwork required to license a premises — with ongoing advice after you graduate.

Tuition & payment

How much does a Thai massage course cost?
Tuition at Michael Thai Massage School is 4,900 THB per course — Thai massage 150 hours, oil massage 150 hours, foot reflexology 60 hours or facial massage 60 hours. That price includes your practice kit, equipment, the bilingual certificate and free lifetime refresher classes. The full Professional Therapist package covering every core course is 19,990 THB, down from 65,900 THB. Instalments are available and receipts are issued.
How do I pay, and are instalments available?
